Western Sikkim

We travelled to Pelling in Western Sikkim and visited some magical spots including Pemayangtse Monastery (literally means "Perfect Sublime Lotus"), the second oldest monastery in Sikkim built in 1705. From the monastery is a view of the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. We also visited the holy site of Khecheopalri Lake, the Wishing Lake, which is formed in the shape of Tara's footprint. Nestled amidst dense forest, it is believed that the native birds do not let a single leaf float over the lake's surface, picking them up as soon as they fall on the water.
